Frog Dissection

For those of us that felt squeamish doing dissections in school, this is going to take you back! Its safe to say that this $3.99 iPad only Frog Dissection app is about as close as you can get to a real dissection without the smell of formaldehyde. To begin the dissection you are shown a frog on its back. You are shown a dissection tool kit and are directed through the process with lifelike computer animation. Once the dissection is complete, it is actually quite short, the user can click on the various organs to learn more about each one. This app does a great job of helping students understand the process of dissection and providing them an opportunity to take an inside look at a frog’s organs. In addition to the dissection there are some other fascinating activities including an amazing visual of the frog lifecycle, 3D images of its internal organs, a wonderfully illustrated encyclopedia of frogs, and a comparison of frog and human organs. Overall, an outstanding app that will give your budding biologist an inside look, literally, at frogs!  Also check out Rat Dissection.
