 This Encyclopedia of Volcanoes app has lots of information in (wait for it…) encyclopedic form and is good for preschool to adult. It is made more interesting by the images, plus a few basic games (a matching game and a puzzle). Nothing reinforces learning, but your reader can certainly gain a lot of new knowledge. The images are enough to captivate the non-reader. This app’s educational value is much higher for a confident reader. This is a good app for quiet time – sounds are not needed. The games are simple and provide spacial relationship and memory exercises (not knowledge acquisition or practice). Like this app? There is a lot to learn, but no way to practice. It was very helpful for a 3rd grade project on volcanoes.
