Pocket Phonics

Pocket Phonics is a very good educational app for pre-readers to practice saying letter sounds, writing letters and sounding out short words.  Thoughtfully designed with good messaging like “keep practicing and you will improve!” We love that – so much better than the constant flattery in other apps.  Note:  this app needs sound, so if you want absolute peace and quiet, steer your kid to another app.

Skills: phonics, letters
Cost: $2.99
Platform:   iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
Grade(s): preschool, kindergarten
